Fields End (12)
Afternoon visits are becoming the norm, this time after having my windscreen changed following a stone impact last week from an impatient biker as he accelerated past me. I arrived at 13.30 this time. It had been a nice morning but rain threatened.
My 'favourite' spots were all taken so I tried the swim in the south west corner. It's under trees and in fact very secluded. It also has reed beds either side which suits my margin fishing preference.
I tried the margin to the left first off, but nothing doing. I then cast to the right with bread flake and within seconds had a strong pull that led to a nice 5lb 4oz common. This was caught at about 14.00.

After a bit of a wait and some missed pulls, at around 17.30 I hooked something that felt really big. It was, and after a real tussle I landed a 17lb fish. Unfortunately it was foul-hooked, which took the shine off the achievement; although I'm sure it was twice as hard to get in than it would have been if it had been mouth-hooked.
About half an hour later I landed a 9lb 14oz mirror that took luncheon meat. It was a short but very deep fish that fought well.
Just after 19.00 I hooked another large fish that took luncheon meat fished close in to the reeds to the right of the swim. It weighed in at 13lb. Again this fish gave me a real good fight and I had to work hard to get it in.
I continued fishing to the right and after a change to a large fluffy piece of bread flake I landed my last fish at around 20.30; a 6lb 6oz mirror. All in all not a bad afternoon; and another swim has been explored, giving me more 'favourites' to choose from on my next visits.
